Tyler Pounds Gets Fourth Regional Jet Departure
Tyler Morning Telegraph   |   Nov 12, 2008

The Tyler Pounds Regional Airport received word Tuesday that American Eagle plans to add a fourth regional jet departure from Tyler effective Jan. 6, 2009.
The new flight is scheduled to depart Dallas Ft. Worth (DFW) Airport at 4:40 p.m. and will arrive in Tyler at 5:25 p.m., according to a press release from the City of Tyler. It is then scheduled to depart from Tyler at 5:50 p.m. to arrive at DFW at 6:35 p.m.

"This is a great addition to our schedule for our customers, particularly the business people in East Texas," said Davis Dickson, airport manager, in the prepared statement. "This new flight allows customers doing business in our area to have a fairly full day of work and make it to the airport to leave after 5 p.m."

Currently, Tyler Pounds Regional Airport has service to Dallas, through American Eagle, and to Houston, with Continental Connection -- with worldwide connectivity.

The nine daily departures will grow to ten with the addition of the new flight.

"The load factors for our existing flights have been very strong," said Dickson. "It makes good business sense for the airlines to add additional flights. At a time when other airports are having flights cut, Tyler is fortunate that our schedule is growing. The more Tylerites use the airport, the more flights we will have."

David Hudson, council chair for the Area Devel-opment Council said that the Aviation committee is constantly looking at issues that will make Tyler Pounds Regional Airport more attractive to carriers.

"We've got a great airport and this extra flight will make it more convenient for people connecting in Houston and Dallas," Hudson said. "Connectivity is the major point of this process."
