Press Release | Jan 15, 2009 |
WASHINGTON—Tyler Pounds Regional Airport will receive a federal grant of $349,361 for airport improvements, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn announced Thursday. The funding comes through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) within the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).
“These funds will be used to address needed maintenance and safety improvements at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport,” Sen. Cornyn said. “In addition, quality transportation services are important for boosting local economic growth. I commend the area leaders who worked to secure this funding.”
The funding will be used to construct a general aviation apron, a taxiway that will reduce the amount of runway crossings and enhance safety, and to improve the pavement condition of Runway 17/35 and enhance the useful life of the pavement.
